Our mother raised 4 children on her own - she gave us such unconditional love - she taught us to give also. We did give her some bad times but she always stood behind us. She never gave up on any of her children - which is why we are a very close family. When she was diagnosed with lung cancer we were devastated - but she never said Oh why me!! She decided to fight - & we did too!! We took her to her chemo & radiation treatments - & I could see the scared look on her face & I wanted to take it away for her!! My mom had stopped smoking years before she was diagnosed - the doctor that first treated her made the mistake of treating her for bronchitas for six months instead of thinking - hey she's an ex-smoker lets check further - to this day I believe his ignorance cost her her life - if she was treated sooner there would have been a big difference!! She was stage 3B when they found the tumors - 3 of them on her main artery in her lung!! I still get so angry when I think of the ignorance!!
But mom never dwelled on it - she fought for seven more yrs - also developed breast cancer they believe was from the radiation. Near the end she was apologizing to me because she thought she was being a bother - I told her all the times you took care of us how can you think we wouldn't take care of you!!! I was with my mom when she passed - I held her hand tight so she would know she was not alone!!! I saw the look on her face - I'll never get that out of my mind!! I believe she knew I was there!! We miss her so much!!!
She is survived by her daughter Diane & her husband Jim, Lisa & her husband Luis, Sharon & her husband Ronnie & a son Bill & her grandchildren-Luis-Michael-Alberto-Brianna-Ronnie-Kyle & Adrienne-2 great grandchildren Michael Damion & Jillian Claire.
